There's No Place Like Seashore Day Camp

Campers and students will perform Wizard of Oz this weekend

The Seashore Players at have been working hard over the last four months to prepare for their performance of The Wizard of Oz.

Those who wish to see the performance can follow the yellow brick road to the Monmouth Regional High School Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. There will also be two performances on Saturday, March 31 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The play is developed from the popular MGM film and will feature the much-loved songs from the Oscar-winning movie score including: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”, “If I Only Had a Heart”, and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.”

Leading the cast are Brooke Salamone, of Freehold, as Dorothy, Luke Sweeney of West Long Branch, as the Scarecrow, Samantha Ventola of Ocean Township as the Tinman, Nina Areyan, of Long Branch, as the Cowardly Lion, Payton Toscano, of Port Monmouth, as Glinda, Samantha Siriani, of Middletown, as the Wicked Witch, and Matthew Viana, of Oceanport, as the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The cast features nearly fifty students from grades kindergarten through eighth grade.

The production is produced and directed by Anthony Greco, of Oakhurst, and Renee Harrison Pincus, of  Jackson, who are the heads of the Seashore Players.

Seashore Players is a 12-month long performing arts program that includes school productions, after school holiday plays, and the popular “On Broadway” Summer Theater Camp.

According to the directors last year’s spring production of Annie which resulted in four sold out performances, and the decision was made to move the performance to a larger venue, Monmouth Regional High School’s Performing Arts Center, at 1 Norman J Field Way in Tinton Falls.
