The three schools (, and) collected a total of 4,585 cans of food, which were donated to the Monmouth/Ocean County Foodbank.

Co-chair persons Beth Rogers and Susan Fisher were extremely pleased with the turnout and would like to thank the school administrators, teachers, students and parents for their support.

The class in each school who collected the most food items won a bagel party.

The winning classes were Ms. Allegretta's class at MFA with 379 food items, Ms. Blackman's class at SRS with 409 food items and Ms. Fattell's homeroom at the Middle School with 125 food items.

I am curious to know whether any other kids are having a hellacious year at Swimming River School. My grandson is in the 4th grade. He's been going to school or preschool since 3 months of age. He's loved every bit of it til this year. He was really looking forward to starting this year last fall. Then he seems to have gotten the teacher from Hell. This teacher routinely makes him sit in the back of the class with his back to the class. He's not a stupid kid. We have no reason to believe that he's misbehaving in class. There have been times when mistakes were made (misspelling) on homework. The pages were sent home for correction. Mom sat with him and supervised corrections. Teacher then accused him of not making the corrections and again direct corrections. This 9 year old was an eager beaver student. He routinely did more than what was assigned. He loved school and learning. Now, he is totally turned off. He outright refuses to go to school frequently. When forced into the car, he's tried to jump out even when the car was moving.
What I'd like to know is this, have others experienced the same. If so, I'm curious whether it is the same teacher. What were the results of your attempts to resolve the problems.

I will drive through the area tomorrow to see if I spot anything! Try googling volunteer searchRead More groups for missing dogs. There are a few in the NJ area. Also ask the local SPCA and Humane Society to see if they can lend you humane traps. Try patrolling the area with food of a strong odor...raw meat, steak, etc. Search in tiny groups and split up to avoid scaring him away, and always bring food and a leash in case you have to lure him over and then leash him. Try also sitting in the area last spotted quietly to see if he approaches you. Bring food so he smells it. Just a few things I have learned while doing some dog searches. Keep sharing and put up posters locally...it helps!
