Shuler, Local Athletes To Be Recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County
Club will honor local high school students headed to college for athletics
Senior Miles Shuler will end his high school career on Thursday when he graduates from Long Branch High School and begins preparing for his athletic career at Rutgers University.
Shuler, a track and football star at Long Branch, will play wide receiver for the Scarlet Knights in the fall. However, before he begins the next chapter of his life, he will be honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM) for excelling at his craft and continuing his education in college.
The event will take place at the club's Asbury Park location at 1201 Monroe Ave at 4 p.m.

Shuler will not be the only athlete honored on Monday, others who have excelled during their high school sports careers will also be recognized.

Jihaad Howard: Syracuse University, Brick Memorial High School, Track and Football.
Simon Press: Rowan University, Asbury Park High School, Track and Football.
Miles Shuler: Rutgers University, Long Branch High School, Football.
Syessence Davis: Rutgers University, Neptune High School, Basketball.
"These young men and women have made great advances through their high school careers," said Darren Boone, BGCM Gang Prevention & Athletic Coordinator. "We eagerly await the leaps and bounds they will make through their college careers."
The 12 high school seniors are all BGCM members, and some have been active members at the Asbury Park Unit since 2003, and others have joined as recently as this year.
A few members are recognized for their national and state titles including Syessence Davis No. 6 in U.S. for pentathlete, No. 8 in the U.S. for javelin and No. 1 in the state for javelin, Christan Boateng No. 4 in United States for 110-meter hurdles and Jihad Howard No. 9 in the state for 100-meter dash.
