New Long Branch BOE Members Sworn In at Re-Org Meeting

Board appoints new president, vice president

After their victories in last week's school election, board of education members Armand Zambrano, an incumbent, James Parnell and Allan Menkin were sworn in at Tuesday night's re-ogranization meeting.

Parnell garned the most votes with 910, while Menkin and Zambrano received 739 and 667, respectively. Violeta Peters was not re-elected and finished with the third most votes with 654. Rose Widdis decided to not to run for re-election this year.

After the board members were sworn in, the board went into executive session to discuss nominations for the new board president and vice president.

When they emerged, Michele Critelli, who served as president for the 2010-2011 school year, and Bill Dangler, who served as vice president during the same timeframe, were nominated.

Six of the nine board members voted to name Dangler as the new president of the Long Branch BOE, and he immediately took his post.

Tara Beams was nominated as vice president, and every board member with the exception of Zambrano and Critelli voted to appoint her to that position.

The board also appointed McOmber & McOmber as its general counsel for 2011-2012 and approve its meeting schedule up to March, 2012.
