Monmouth University Holds "Hawk Walk" Campaign

Monmouth University is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign, where students, families and alumni can purchase commemorative bricks to be installed throughout the West Long Branch campus.

For many individuals, once they leave college, there is a feeling of wanting to leave behind some sort of legacy at the school they attended. We all can’t be valedictorian, be president of a fraternity or sorority, or kick the game winning field goal to win our college the Fiesta Bowl. However, that does not mean we are unable to leave behind some sort of mark on the schools we devotedly attended.

At Monmouth University, a new program has been set up to make sure students are able to leave behind some sort of mark at the school to make sure they will always be remembered. This program is called a “Hawk Walk,” where students, alumni and parents can buy bricks which will be installed along roads at the school that have the names of students or families inscribed on them.

This program is described as a “spirit campaign,” where individuals can show their pride for the West Long Branch university. All proceeds from this campaign will be donated to financially help students at the university in various means.

All bricks that are ordered will be installed in front of Woodrow Wilson Hall and will be placed along the walkway to the Cedar Avenue underpass. If the bricks are ordered by Thursday, July 28, they will be installed in time for Monmouth University’s 2011 Homecoming.

A 4" x 8" brick is $200, and an 8" x 8" brick is $300. Along with the bricks, a certificate will be given to those who purchase the pavers to be installed along the grounds of the university.
