The event will also feature an opening performance acoustic sets and comedy acts.

Rock N Raise is co-sponsored by WMCX, Commworks, The Outlook, PRSSA, and the Desperate Mamas and will be simulcast on WMCX 88.9 FM and Hawk TV, campus Channel 12.

There will be prizes handed out as well including Protools 10 by Avid, 4 hours of studio recording time by Metro Music, a $100 gift card from Toms River and Freehold Music Centers, and a $50 gift card by Russo’s Music Center. Equipment rentals were also donated by Toms River Music.

Refreshments will be sold throughout the afternoon including hotdogs, pretzels, beverages, popcorn, and cotton candy. Several carnival-style games including balloon busting, coin toss, and a Guitar Hero jam session will be hosted by The Desperate Mamas and take place in the lobby.

Last year’s event raised over $3,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society and organizers are hoping to surpass that total this year.

“Last year Rock N Raise was amazing," Rock N Raise Executive Producer Kate Nawoyski said. "It was not only as a learning experience for our students but an exhilarating event the campus and community could get involved in. And this year, the event is even bigger with double the performers. We’re so excited and hoping for an awesome turnout.”
