Monmouth Football Team Looking To Follow Marquee Victory With NEC Success

Monmouth will open NEC play with road test against Central Connecticut State

After a high-profile win at home against Villanova, the Monmouth University football team will begin NEC play on the road on Saturday.

The Hawks (1-1) will play Central Connecticut State (2-1) at noon on Saturday at Arute Field in New Britain, Conn., and look to avoid a letdown after posting an impressive win against a Villanova team that won the National Championship in 2009 and reached the NCAA semifinals last year.

Central Connecticut State is always one of the best teams in the NEC, as shown by the fact that the Blue Devils won a share of the NEC title in 2009 and 2010. They have also won 15 straight home games.
