Old First United Methodist Church To Get Boost From Monmouth University Concert

Concert is scheduled Dec. 17 and will benefit local church restoration fund

Monmouth University is hosting a concert that will benefit the restoration fund on Dec. 17, at 4 p.m., at the Pollak Theatre.

Tickets for the performance, which will include artists Jake Clemons, Woodfish and Jo Wymer, are $15 and can be ordered by calling 732-930-0466 or visiting www.outoforder.net.

There will be a doo-wop set at 4 p.m. with the Shore Tones, Rock ‘n Rhythm, Sidewalk Serenade and The Del Angels.

Ticket-holders can also bid on art pieces on display at the Art Walk outside the Pollak Theatre.  All proceeds from the art auction will benefit the Old First Methodist Church and exhibiting artists.

Old First United Methodist Church is located at 197 Locust Ave., West Long Branch and is the oldest functioning church in Monmouth County.

Monmouth has gathered a diverse group of performers who all have roots in New Jersey.

Jake Clemons is the nephew of legendary E-Street Band member Clarence Clemons. He is a songwriter and also plays saxophone, guitar and piano.

Woodfish is rock band that hails from Red Bank, and has received many New Jersey music awards including "New Jersey Shore Performer of the Year" in 2007.

Jo Wymer is the lead singer of a band that produces soulful and gritty songs. Her band was the recipient of the Asbury Music Awards' "Best Blues Band" in 2010.
