Martin Luther King Day Events Begin Today in Long Branch

Gospel Night to be held at Trinity AME Church tonight

 

Martin Luther King Day gives people around the country an opportunity to remember the life of an extraordinary man.

The life of Dr. King will be remembered in a variety of events around the city from today through Monday, Jan. 16.

• Gospel Night will be held at Trinity AME Church on Liberty Street on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

• The Martin Luther King Soul Food Dinner will be held at the Long Branch Portuguese Club on Broadway on Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m.

• Youth Ministry Day will be held at First Baptist Church on Liberty Street on Jan. 14 at 3 p.m.

• A Martin Luther King Program honoring the life of Dr. King will be held at Second Baptist Church on Liberty Street on Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.

• Long Branch School District Superintendent Michael Salvatore will be the keynote speaker for the Martin Luther King Birthday Observance. The event will be held on Jan. 16 at Martin Luther Jr. Memorial Park on Atlantic Avenue at 10 a.m.

All events are open to the public.
