Local High Schools Rated on Student Achievement in New Report

See what "grades" In Jersey magazine gave Monmouth Regional, Shore Regional and Long Branch High Schools in its survey.

As students and teachers prepare to head back to high school, a new report has been released that rates how area high schools are performing. 

Inside Jersey, a magazine produced by the Star Ledger, used a 'proprietary formula' to chart trends in student achievement over the past four years. The magazine used data from the state's High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA), SAT scores and other data in its calculations to dole out letter grades. The full report can be seen here on NJ.com.

Here is how the report rated local schools:

Monmouth Regional - 'D' grade for "Below average scores, below average growth". The report cites a 1445 SAT score and 1.9 percent growth rate in student achievement over the study period. 

Shore Regional - 'B' grade for "Above average scores, above average growth". The composite SAT score at Shore Regional is 1509 and the report cites an 8.3 percent student achievement growth rate over the study period.

Long Branch High School - 'C' grade for "Below average scores, above average growth". The composite SAT score is 1257, and the report cites a 13.6 percent student achievement growth rate.
