Hot New Rap Act to Perform at the MAC
Pittsburgh-baed rapper Wiz Khalifa will be performing at Monmouth University, along with Big Sean and Chevy Woods, on Friday, July 29. Tickets recently went on sale for the show.
The 2010-2011 school year at Monmouth University may be finished, but that does not mean that the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) at Monmouth has shut their doors for the summer. It was recently announced that on Friday, July 29, one of the biggest rap stars today will be performing at the school located in West Long Branch.
On that date, Wiz Khalifa will be hitting the stage, with special opening guests Big Sean and Chevy Woods. All tickets are $38, and customers are limited to six tickets per person for the concert.
Khalifa is a Pittsburgh based rapper who is signed to Atlantic Records. He gained a great deal of fame in the past few months, as his single, “Black and Yellow,” became an anthem of sorts for the Pittsburgh Steelers football team as they progressed through the NFL playoffs this season, reaching the Super Bowl this past year against the Green Bay Packers.

MTV recently gave him the “Hottest Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist of 2010" award. This past March, Khalifa released his major-label debut album, Rolling Papers. The album has been well received by many critics and fans, and placed at number two on the Billboard Music Charts on its first week.
Opening for Wiz Khalifa is Big Sean, a 20-year old rapper signed to Island Def Jam records. Sean released his debut album, “Finally Famous,” in 2009, and has performed with such rap and R&B stars as Kanye West, Pharrel Williams and Chris Brown.

Also opening for Wiz Khalifa is Chevy Woods. Woods recently released a mixtape called “Red Cup Music,” and has performed on the song “Chuck,” with Wiz Khalifa himself.
Those interested in buying tickets the day of the show can do so at the Monmouth University Box Office, which will open at 4 p.m. the day of the show. The parking lot will open at 5:30 p.m., with a $10 fee to park. Tailgating is not allowed at Monmouth University. Doors to the MAC will open at 6:30 p.m. The first opener will then begin performing at 7:30 p.m.
