Hawks Have Bright Spot In Season-Opening Loss

Monmouth tight end receives performance accolades

Monmouth University may have fallen against a difficult opponent on Saturday, but there was a bright spot in the game for the Hawks.

Redshirt junior tight end Tyler George, of Berkeley Heights, has been named as a College Football Performance Awards Performer of the Week Honorable Mention after leading the team in receptions and yardage against Lehigh.

George led the team in reception last season and had a career high eight catches for 72 yards on Saturday.

Lehigh handily defeated Monmouth 49-24 on Saturday on the strength of a 346-yard passing performance by Mountain Hawks' senior quarterback Chris Lum.

The Hawks have a bye week before travelling to No. 14 Villanova on Sept. 17.
