Hawks Get Impressive Road Win

Monmouth University defeats Central Connecticut State 24-12

The Monmouth University football team is off to a solid start this year with impressive victories over quality opponents.

On Saturday, the Hawks (2-1) snapped Central Connecticut State's (2-2) 15-game home winning streak with a convicing, 24-12 road win.

Senior quarterback passed for one touchdown and ran for another and freshman quarterback Julian Hayes rushed for 79 yards and another score. Eric Spillane gave the Hawks an early 10-0 lead after kicking a 41-yard field goal.

Monmouth's defense was dominant and only allowed 267 total yards to a Blue Devil team was was projected to win the the NEC this season.

Monmouth will return home on Saturday, Oct. 1 and will take on Robert Morris for a 12 p.m. NEC contest.  The game will be televised on MSG +.
