Former Interim Shore Regional Superintendent Finds a New Home

Renae LaPrete was chosen as the Manasquan School District's new interim superintendent.

The former interim superintendent of Shore Regional Schools was tapped to be the next interim superintendent of Manasquan School District.

Renae LaPrete, of Wall, was appointed the Principal/Interim Superintendent of Shore Regional High School on June 28, 2011, shortly after former superintendent Leonard Schnappauf announced his retirement after holding the position for 15 years. She served through August 2012 and was replaced by Thomas Farrell earlier this year.

LaPrete now joins Manasquan School District as its interim superintendent for the new school year, with its business year starting July 1.

A special executive meeting of the Manasquan school board Thursday picked LaPrete for the interim role.

n September 2012, the board unanimously confirmed Robert J. Mahon as acting superintendent of schools, hours after district staff were notified that former schools chief Geraldine Margin was going on administrative leave effective immediately.

Mahon, the current mayor of Avon-By-The-Sea who also served as interm superintendent of the Spring Lake Heights school district through June, has been earning a state-mandated fee of $605.77 per day as acting schools chief, officials said. 

At a spring school board meeting, Mahon advised the district to find another interim superintendent if it had not named a superintendent by the time his one-year contract was up.

The board began searching for an interim superintendent, as the seach for the next superintendent runs concurrently.
