Called to the Principal's Office: Meet Kevin Iozzi, Vetter School's New Principal

Patch spent some time getting to know Kevin Iozzi before he takes up his new position as the Margaret L. Vetter School principal on July 1.

On Tuesday morning, Patch was fortunate enough to spend some time getting to know the new principal of the Margaret L. Vetter Elementary School in Eatontown.  Kevin Iozzi is the current physical education teacher at the Woodmere Elementary School and will take up his new position on July 1.

“I am very excited and honored to be the next principal at the Margaret L. Vetter Elementary School here in Eatontown.  I have been a part of this school system for the past six years and care very deeply about the overall performance and quality of education that we produce.  I feel privileged to be surrounded by excellent educators and skilled leaders who in turn helped me to develop the knowledge and confidence to be the next leader in our district,” he said.

Mr. Iozzi is a local boy who was raised in Howell by his parents, who were also educators.  He is in fact following in his vice principal father’s foot prints.  He is actually surrounded by educators, with two sisters who are teachers and his wife, Maria, is the middle school principal in Red Bank.  He and Maria now live in Berkeley with their two sons.  A family man, Iozzi said he spends his free time centered on his family and coaching soccer for his son’s team.

Iozzi comes to his new position well prepared with a Masters in Administration and Supervision from New Jersey City University, which he completed in 2006, and 16 years of teaching experience in both Eatontown and Perth Amboy.  He has had experience with students from kindergarten to eighth grade. During his time as the Discipline Coordinator at the Eatontown Memorial Middle School, Iozzi implemented several new programs such as a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, anitbullying programs and peer mediation.  While he was productive and appreciated his time at the middle school, he very much enjoys the enthusiasm and creativity of the elementary school children.

Iozzi said he is excited to begin his new position in July and is looking forward to simple acts such as greeting the children each morning and getting to know each student.  “I believe that my love for children, 16 years of experience and dedication to the community, families, and especially the children of Eatontown will translate into an enthusiastic and passionate approach to the students and staff of Vetter School.  I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
