Air Conditioning Malfunction Causes Long Branch to Move Summer Camp to Middle School

Recent power surges have disabled the air conditioning system at Amerigo A. Anastasia (AAA) School until further notice, according to Long Branch School District Public Safety Liaison Walter J. O'Neill, Jr.

"Fortunately, our Middle School has more than 60 empty classrooms this summer that have working air conditioning, superior technology and plenty of space for our AAA school camp," O'Neill said. "Therefore, beginning tomorrow we will move the entire AAA summer camp to the Long Branch Middle School for the remainder of the summer session."

O'Neill said student drop off and pick up at the Middle School is located on Bath Avenue and that the AAA summer staff will be there during arrival and dismissal.

Students who walk to AAA for summer camp can take busses that will depart from the school parking lot each day at 8:45 a.m. and take them to the middle school. Walkers will be bussed back to AAA school at 2:45 p.m. after camp each day.

Each bus will have school personnel aboard to ensure bus safety rules are followed, O'Neill said.

"Although the situation is not ideal, it is certainly a great option considering the circumstances." O'Neill said. "We appreciate your cooperation and hope to continue the fun this summer with plenty of fun filled learning activities for the children."
