Students Recognized; Administrator Salaries Approved by Monmouth Regional BOE for Next School Year

Board approves salaries and honors students at final meeting of the school year. By Joseph Lisnow

As the school year wraps up, the Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education is already busy assessing costs for the upcoming school year.

At its meeting on June 7, the board went over the fiscal points of a $12 million bond referendum for improvements to the school as well as recognizing key people and students at the school.

The board approved salaries for the school's administrators including Superintendent Charles R. Ford Jr., at $142,800, and Principal Andrew Teeple, at $132,000 with Teeple having a salary freeze for the 2011-2012 year. (See chart below for full list of approved salaries.)

Eight staff members will teach nine classes during the summer for a stipend totaling $15,500. Classes include physical education, special education, two health classes and English for all grades.

Secretaries, bus drivers and custodial staff were just a few of the salaries and pay increases discussed during the 80-minute meeting.

Jack Zorski, a seven-year volunteer in the guidance apartment, was honored at the start of the meeting for his help with students getting into college and also donating over $100,000 with his wife. The board said with his assistance, he helped more students enter college.

“I had the good fortune of working here,” said Zorski. “I found the staff and administration were excellent and I never lost sight of the fact that I’m here to help counselors and caseworkers. I really get paid with handshakes and smiles.”

A $1,000 donation was accepted from the Ft. Monmouth Garrison Chapel for the school’s chorus for their performance in March.

Senior Erik Massiminio, was the recipient of the fourth Peskoe Summer Internship Grant Program for this summer. For two months, Massiminio will be paid for his internship while working 26 hours per week.

The May student of the month award was presented to Jenifer Cecilione and James Prince was honored as June’s recipient.

The board also recognized outgoing student council representatives (and Patch correspondents) AJ Visconti and Shannon Reilly.

The next board of education meeting is August 2.
