Everything You Need To Know For Voting in Long Branch and West Long Branch

One incumbent, one newcomer and a write-in hopeful are running this year for West Long Branch Council.

The West Long Branch Council election appeared to have no surprises up until a few weeks ago.

Now, Richard Brand has decided to mount a write-in campaign and run against incumbent Republican Councilman Christopher Neyhart, who is seeking his third term on the council. Newcomer Fred Migliaccio will be looking to join the council for the first time. Migliaccio is currently the borough's Office of Emergency Management Coordinator and the Fire Sub Code Official.

Republican Councilman J. Thomas DeBruin, who was elected to the council in 2005, will not seek a third term on the dais.

No Democrats entered their names before the April deadline, so the Democratic slate will remain empty this November.

Brand retired as a lieutenant for the West Long Branch Police on Oct. 31 and was replaced by Lt. Paul Haberman.
