Traffic Light Still Out at Route 35, Route 36 Intersection in Eatontown

Power was restored Monday afternoon at boro hall and to other traffic lights along Route 35 and Wyckoff Road that lost power after the storm.

Update: According to Eatontown Borough Administrator George Jackson, power was restored to the traffic lights on Tuesday.

Lights were back on at boro hall in Eatontown by Monday afternoon and most of the have been restored, according to borough administrator George Jackson.

The Route 35 and Route 36 intersection traffic light was still out as of 1 p.m., said Jackson, who added that the light was taken out when a hit some nearby wires. Traffic heading north along Route 35 is being diverted by cones onto Route 36 east.

Power at boro hall had been out since Saturday night, said Jackson, and back up generators were being used until the power was restored at 12:30 p.m.

Traffic lights along Route 35 -- from Shrewsbury Avenue to Route 36 -- were out on Sunday, as were lights along Wyckoff Road in front of the Monmouth Mall.

According to the First Energy Web site, Eatontown still had 2,337 customers without power as of 2:54 p.m. on Monday.

Jackson said the main concern for most in town now was flooded basements of many whose power was knocked out by the hurricane.
