Tinton Falls Appropriates $750,000 For Hurricane Costs

Tinton Falls has appropriated $750,000 for costs associated with Hurricane Sandy.

Tinton Falls Chief Financial Officer Stephen Pfeffer said the borough expects "full reimbursement from FEMA," for these costs.

The borough made a similar emergency appropriation after Hurricane Irene and received $85,886 from FEMA.

Pfeffer added that the budget process for New Jersey could be pushed back this year because so many towns were devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Mayor Michael Skudera said the damage the borough received mainly consisted of downed trees and power lines, but that flooding was not really an issue.

"I'm very proud of how things were handled in Tinton Falls," Mayor Skudera said. "Everyone knew what they were supposed to do."

Mayor Skudera also thanked the borough's administration, office of emergency managements and the 250 volunteers who came to borough hall to help out after the storm.
