State and Energy Grant Allow City To Install Energy-Efficient Lighting

Lighting will be installed in city buildings

 

City buildings now have energy-efficient lighting thanks to the state and an energy grant.

Hutchinson Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, LLC, of Chapel Hill, will install the lighting for a cost of $161,247. However, the city will not have the pay the entire cost of the installation.

The state will provide $96,748 for the project and an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant will provide $53,291. The state will pay an additional $10,004 directly to Hutchinson as part of the grant.

The work has reportedly already been completed, but the city council was required to pass a resolution to memorialize the work and use of the state funding and grant monies.
