Several West Long Branch Roads To Be Repaired in 2012

Council will review list of roads compiled by borough engineer before making selections

The West Long Branch Council is currently reviewing a study performed by T&M Associates, the borough's engineering firm, to decide three roads that will be repaired in 2012.

Engineer Bob Steets said T&M checked each road in the borough and found that the three worst roads were Harbor Court, Woods Road and Homestead Avenue.

Steets said the repairs could include resurfacing and curb repair, if deemed necessary.

"If the curb is good or fair, we will leave it as is and just fix the road surface," Steets said. "We want to cover as many surface repairs as possible."

Steets told the council it could change the priority of which roads it would like to resurface if it chooses.

"This is a draft, this is not final," he said.

Councilwoman Barbara Ruane said she knew of other streets such as Orchard Road that needed to be resurfaced.

Steets said streets like Orchard Road can be patched, and do not need to be completely resurfaced.

Mayor Janet Tucci instructed councilmembers to take a look around town and find any roads that they feel should be higher on the priority list to be repaired.

"Take a map, ride around, and let's see if we can do this as quickly as possible," Mayor Tucci said.
