Parkway Exit 105 Reconfiguration Public Hearing Set For Thursday in Tinton Falls

Interchange improvement project discussion will be held at Tinton Falls Municipal Court

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will hold a public hearing in Tinton Falls on Thursday, Nov. 29, to hear comments on the proposed Garden State Parkway Interchange 105 Improvements Project.

The improvements would be made at Exit 105 in Tinton Falls and are part of a proposed $40 million plan to improve traffic flow in the area and improve access to Fort Monmouth.

The public hearing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tinton Falls Municipal Court House, at 556 Tinton Avenue.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority representatives and consultants will be available to discuss the project informally between 4 and 6 p.m. The official public hearing will begin at 6 p.m. with a brief presentation by the Authority followed by the opportunity for members of the public to make comments.

The Project includes the reconstruction of the Hope Road and Route 36 intersection, the construction of a new southbound connection from the Parkway local (outer) roadway to Wayside Road, and the addition of a second northbound deceleration lane from the Parkway local (outer) roadway to Interchange 105.

"The project is intended to improve access to and from the GSP at Interchange 105 and intersection operations at the Authority’s ramp termini with the Hope Road and NJ Route 36 intersection," a notice from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's website states. "In addition, in accordance with the New Jersey No Net Loss Reforestation Act, N.J.S.A. 13:1L-14.1, et seq., the Authority will present information concerning the impact the Project will have to forested areas and the proposed reforestation effort."

The notice states that written comments may also be submitted to the authority prior to the hearing and until January 28, 2013, which is the official closing date of the comment period. All comments received, oral or written, will be responded to in a written Public Hearing Report.

Written and oral comments should be addressed to:

A major source of misery for NJ drivers is bad road design. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has info that I hope could be used to make this tough exist easier to deal with. Their guides are available here:

I will drive through the area tomorrow to see if I spot anything! Try googling volunteer searchRead More groups for missing dogs. There are a few in the NJ area. Also ask the local SPCA and Humane Society to see if they can lend you humane traps. Try patrolling the area with food of a strong odor...raw meat, steak, etc. Search in tiny groups and split up to avoid scaring him away, and always bring food and a leash in case you have to lure him over and then leash him. Try also sitting in the area last spotted quietly to see if he approaches you. Bring food so he smells it. Just a few things I have learned while doing some dog searches. Keep sharing and put up posters locally...it helps!
