NJDOT To Perform Maintenance Work on Several Tinton Falls and Eatontown Bridges

Five Route 18 bridges in Eatontown and Tinton Falls will receive "preventive maintenance" from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) over the next year.

"NJDOT will be performing different levels of bridge maintenance work at each location including deck patching, joint repairs, header reconstruction, crack repairs and the application of a corrosion inhibitor," a release from NJDOT states "Work will be performed on abutment walls and piers at certain locations as well."

The construction is designed to "extend the service life" of 32 bridge structures across the state.

The five bridges that will receive maintenance in Eatontown and Tinton Falls are:

• NJ-18 NB and SB over Wyckoff Road in Eatontown

• NJ-18 NB over Wayside Road in Tinton Falls

• NJ-18 NB and SB over Conrail in Tinton Falls

• NJ-18 NB and SB over Squankum Road in Tinton Falls

• NJ-18 NB and SB over Hamilton Road in Tinton Falls

Other bridges on Rotues 35, 33 and 71 will also receive maintenance.

Repair work will begin this week at the Wyncrest Road Bridge over Route 18 in Marlboro and other projects will follow during the course of the $2.7 million project that is scheduled to be completed in Fall, 2013.

"Performing these types of proactive, preventive repairs helps prolong the lifespan of these bridges and delays the need for more extensive and more expensive projects," the NJDOT stated in its release.
