Man Indicted for Stealing Money, Credit Cards, from Eatontown Resident

Toms River man took over $16,000

A Monmouth County Grand Jury indicted a Toms River man on three different  counts, including theft by deception, on Jan. 4.

According to the indictment, Charles J. Smith III, 28, of 893 Ocean View Drive, allegedly obtained $16,546 through deception from an resident sometime between Nov. 1, 2010 and Jan. 25, 2011. The suspect was also charged with theft of movable property (third degree) for the taking of the money.

Smith also was indicted for a third count of fraudulent use of a credit card for allegedly using a stolen Visa card to make unauthorized purchases from number of local gas and convenience stations, LaRosa Chicken and Grill and TD Bank.
