Long Branch Municipal Election Set For This Year

Petitions to run for council or mayor are now available at city hall.

A municipal election will be held in Long Branch this year and those interested in running for city council or mayor can now pick up petitions at city hall

A municipal election is held every four years in Long Branch and that means all five council seats are up for grabs as well as they mayor' seat. Adam Schneider has served as mayor of Long Branch for over 23 years, and recently said he plans to run again.

Petitions can be picked up on the second floor of city hall at 344 Broadway from Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The deadline for returning petitions is Monday, March 10.

The municipal election will be held on May 13 with polling hours of 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It is unknown how many current council members will run for reelection this year.

The current council consists of Long Branch Council President John Pallone, Councilman Michael Sirianni, Councilwoman Joy Bastelli, Councilwoman Dr. Mary Jane Celli and Councilwoman Kathleen Billings.
