Long Branch Mayor to Endorse Christie on Monday

Adam Schneider, a Democrat, will endorse Christie, a Republican, who is running for reelection this year.

Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said he will publicly endorse Gov. Chris Christie's reelection bid on Monday at Pier Village.

Christie will be in Pier Village on Monday, June 17 at 10:45 for Schneider's endorsement.

Schneider, a Democrat, said Christie, a Republican, has done a fine job with his response to Hurricane Irene and Hurricane Sandy in the past two years and has earned his respect.

Schneider said Christie's criticism of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for holding up Hurricane Sandy Aid, also led to his endorsement.

"When a governor holds himself accountable for things his party does, he earns a lot of respect," Schneider said today.

He said he continues to have a good relationship with Christie's staff as well and that they have always been there to help the city when he calls upon them.

"He has a really good staff," Schneider continued. "I've been through five governors, so I know the difference between a good and bad staff."
