Long Branch Council Meeting Hours Changing Next Month

Council meetings will now begin at 7:30 p.m.

Long Branch Council meetings could be starting a bit later as soon as next month.

If the council passes a resolution at its next meeting on Aug. 9, regular council meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m.; 30 minutes later than their current start time.

Workshop meetings would still begin at 6 p.m.

The workshop meetings are the genesis of the council's discussions of moving the meeting time back a half hour.

Council President Michael Sirianni said the meetings usually do not start until between 7 and 7:30 p.m., because the workshop meetings sometimes run long.

The council also goes into executive session in the time between the workshop and regular meetings.

At the Aug. 9 meeting, the council will vote on a resolution to change the start time of the regular meeting to 7:30 p.m. If the resolution is passed, as it is expected to be, the new change in meeting times will become effective starting Aug. 23.

Councilman Sirianni said the city's web site would be updated to reflect the change if the resolution is passed next month.
