The Long Branch Council is looking to bond $1.7 million for various capital improvement projects throughout the city.

The council introduced a bond ordinance at its meeting earlier this week for the improvements.

The projects include:

• Road improvements for Sairs Avenue: $975,000

• A computer-aided dispatch system for the Long Branch Police Department and a fire division module: $375,000

• Various equipment for the Long Branch Fire Department: $53,000

• Window vans for the Department of Administration and the Recreation Department: $60,000

• Lake Takanassee bank stabilization project: $100,000

• Dredging of the west side of Lake Takanassee: $155,000

The fire department is also looking to purchase a new quint-style truck to replace some of its older engines. The council would likely have to adopt a separate ordinance for its purchase.

The $1.7 million bond ordinance will be up for adoption either later this month or the first meeting of the Long Branch Council in November.
