Monmouth County Republicans Sweep NJ Legislative Races
Even incumbents moved to new districts managed clear victories.
It was a sweep for Monmouth County's GOP in the state legislative elections Tuesday where the party won four Senate seats and eight General Assembly seats.
Each of the 40 electoral districts in New Jersey elects one State Senator and two Assembly representatives to the New Jersey Legislature.
Recent redistricting threatened to throw incumbents a curve ball as some legislators straddled service in one district and an election in another. But Republicans Jen Beck (D-11) and Declan O'Scanlon (D-13), two of those who were redistricted, came out with clear majorities. Senator Beck taking about 57 percent of the vote and Assemblyman O'Scanlon and his running mate, Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, taking about 29 and 30 percent of the vote, respectively.
