Jersey Shore Prepares for Obama Visit to Asbury Park

Residents line up for 'once in a lifetime' opportunity.

 

Preparations were in full swing this Memorial Day weekend for President Barack Obama's Tuesday afternoon speech in Asbury Park.

Hundreds of people lined the boardwalk when Brick resident Kathleen Mascher arrived at the boardwalk on Sunday morning to get her ticket to see the President's speech, she said.

Earlier today, she told a Patch reporter she was happy she was one of the 1,000 or so people that got tickets.

"My husband dropped me at Convention Hall [on Sunday morning], and I had to walk all the way down the boardwalk, but thankfully, I did get a ticket," Mascher said.

For Mascher and the hundreds of others that will see President Obama speak tomorrow, it will be a "once in a lifetime opportunity," she said.

The exact time of the President's speech has not been specified, but entry to the speech starts at 11:30 a.m., according to a report in the Asbury Park Sun.
