Huge Crowd Comes Out To Hear Tinton Falls Motocross Presentation

The Tinton Falls Zoning Board heard the first testimony from Jersey Shore Motocross on Thursday night.

It appears that it will take some time before Jersey Shore Motocross, the group looking to build a motocross track off Shafto Road in Tinton Falls, will find out if the borough will be the new home to its proposed 21-acre project.

The Tinton Falls Zoning Board heard the first round of testimony from Jersey Shore Motocross' professionals on Thursday night before a packed house of residents looking to get a first glimpse of the project.

The track would be located behind Mazza & Sons Demolition and Recycling with one road, Mazza Boulevard, leading in and out of the facility.

Engineer Tim Lurie explained that the nearest residential property to the proposed track is a nursing home that is 800 feet away. The Foxchase Development is about 1,600 feet north from the site and there are more residences over 1,630 feet south of the property.

Lurie said the site will feature three tracks, two the east, and one to the south that will be used at day and at night. The nighttime track will feature 10, 40-foot-high lights.

The 395-space parking lot will also feature lights, but they will be only be 18 feet.

Residents were only allowed to ask general questions and could not testify as to whether or not they were for or against the project on Thursday night. However, many of those who spoke appeared to be concerned about the noise and lighting associated with the project.

More professionals will testify about the amount of light and noise that will be generated at the site at future meetings, and the public will be able to ask them questions.

The application will be heard again on Nov. 7 at 7:30 and could be held in a larger venue to better accommodate the large crowd.
