Fort Monmouth Closing on Schedule; Health Clinic and Chapel Closing in June

The Associated Press reports that plans for the base's closing are proceeding on schedule.

According to a report by the Associated Press, officials are moving forward with plans to close Fort Monmouth on Sept. 15.

The fort's Patterson Army Health Clinic will close on June 24 and the Post Chapel will hold its final service on June 28, according to the AP.

The U.S. Army base was ordered closed in 2005 by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission.

Many military and civilian personnel have already relocated to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, where the base's mission was transferred.
