Fort Monmouth Chapel Will Soon Be For Sale

The FMERA board voted to make the property available through the request for offers to purchase property.

The chapel in the Oceanport Reuse Area of Fort Monmouth will be the latest piece of fort property to hit the open market.

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) voted to make the property available through its request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) process during its Wednesday night meeting.

The 51-year-old building contains a 600-seat sanctuary, seven offices and is connected to a school facility with 15 classrooms, a commercial kitchen and assembly and activity rooms.

The parcel of land the chapel and its amenities sits on is 5 acres and can accommodate 200 off-street parking spaces.

The Fort Monmouth Reuse Plan envisions the purchaser of the property keeping the same same use for the chapel.

While the property sits in Fort Monmouth Historic District, the chapel is not considered a historic building.
