FMERA Seeking New Manager For Suneagles Golf Course

The previous lease was rescinded by the FMERA board earlier this year

By Christopher Sheldon

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) recently issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking a manager for Suneagles Golf Course.

FMERA is currently running the operations of the golf course and its amendments after choosing to rescind a lease it had awarded earlier this year.

FMERA awarded a contract to the former operator of the club, Atlantic Golf Management, on Feb. 20 for and 18-month, $250,000 contract. The other management company, Meticulous Golf Management (MGM), challenged the bid on March 15 and FMERA chose to rescind the contract in August.

Whomever is chosen to run the golf course will oversee the operations of the course itself, maintenance, golf course improvements and the operations of Gibbs Hall and the 19th Hole Sports Bar.

Responses to the RFP are due by Jan. 3 and the FMERA board is expected to name the next manager of the course by its February meeting. If this occurs, the manager could begin their new duties by April.
