FMERA Looking To Sell Former Fort Monmouth Research Facility in Tinton Falls

FMERA board voted to advance sale of building at recent meeting

A former research facility in the Tinton Falls section of Fort Monmouth will soon be on the market.

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) voted to advance the sale of Building 2705 at its meeting earlier this month. This will allow FMERA to issue a request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) for the property for developers wishing to acquire the property

The 47,600-square-foot building is located in the Charles Wood Section of Fort Monmouth on Pearl Harbor Road. It was built in 1971 and was last used by the Army for night vision research and systems engineering.

"The Reuse and Redevelopment Plan envisions that the main building will be retained in connection with an office/high technology industry node in the Tinton Falls Reuse Area," a FMERA newsletter states. "FMERA and its master broker have shown the property to several interested parties and believe the issuance of an RFOTP at this time could facilitate the attraction and retention of one or more information and communications technology companies."

Tinton Falls Mayor Michael Skudera said the prospect of getting rid of a vacant building and creating a ratable for the borough would be beneficial.

"I am excited to see another opportunity to attract a technology company to Tinton Falls with the hopes of bringing additional good-paying jobs to the local area," Skudera said.
