The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) is seeking buyers for another piece of fort property.

FMERA recently issued a request for offers to purchase (RFOTP)  for the pistol range located in the Charles Wood section of Fort Monmouth in Tinton Falls.

The pistol range is an 11,110-square-foot building with 10 firing lanes and sits on a 1-acre parcel.

"The authority seeks to sell the property to either a private entity or a governmental entity that will continue using the property as a gun range" the RFOTP states.

The reuse plan envisioned the property being purchased by a governmental entity or being used by the state as police or fire training center. If a private entity ultimately purchases the property, an amendment to fort's reuse plan would need to be adopted by FMERA.

The sale of any guns, ammo or other related retail use would also require a plan amendment.

Proposals for the property are due on Feb. 24, 2014 and FMERA will likely name the purchaser of the property later that year.
