Eatontown Postal Facility Still Open But Future Uncertain

The bulk mail operations of the facility are still running.

The Monmouth Processing and Distribution Center, at 307 Industrial Way West in Eatontown is still open but its future remains cloudy.

United States Postal Service (USPS) Spokesman Ray Daiutolo said most of the mail processing operations of the Eatontown facility have been moved to the Trenton Mail Processing and Distribution Center.

"As I understand it, most of the processing operations have been transferred into Trenton," Daiutolo said. "The bulk mail entry unit continues to run out of that facility along with some cross-dock and residual transfer operations."

Daiutolo said there is a small amount of employees still working at the facility, mostly to handle the bulk mail operations. He said the future status of the facility has not been determined.

He said the USPS still feels bulk mail is important, so if the Eatontown facility is ever closed, the those operations would be moved elsewhere.

The Eatontown facility was one of 140 facilities that had its mail processing operations consolidated last year.
