Eatontown Officials Looking to Repave Wall Street

The borough will apply for New Jersey Department of Transportation grant to complete work

By Christopher Sheldon

Eatontown has set its sites on Wall Street as its next road project.

Ed Broberg of T&M told the Eatontown Council on Wednesday that the borough can apply for a New Jersey of Department of Transportation (NJDOT) grant to repave the road.

"The grant should address a road that's more of a collector road than a local, interior street," Broberg said. "We've done Lewis Street in the past and streets like that."

"We think (Wall Street) serves an important regional connection and also connects to the intersection that we're going to be doing by the new shopping center which is really in terrible condition," Broberg continued.

Broberg was addressing the intersection of Wall Street, Parker Road and the new connection to Route 35, which the borough received an NJDOT grant for earlier this year. Work on the intersection has not yet begun.

Eatontown's portion of Wall Street runs from Industrial Way East to Parker Road.

Broberg said the NJDOT grant application is due Sept. 20, and that a resolution would have to be passed by the council at one of its August meetings. He said if the application is made, the borough could expect a response from the state by the end of the year.
