Eatontown Officially Names Park

While it has been around for more than seven years, Husky Brook Park's name was never made official until this week.

The Eatontown Council passed a resolution that approved the name "Husky Brook Park" for park located at Grant Avenue and West Grant Avenue.

Mayor Gerald Tarantolo said the borough had always called the park "Husky Brook Park," but that there was nothing official in the borough's records.

The park was named Husky Brook Park because of its close proximity to Husky Brook. Before becoming a park, the land was referred to as the Stella/Giordano and Capilupi tracts.

The land where the park currently sits was purchased by the borough in 2005 from Pietra Stella and the Estate of Lisa Giordano. The part of the park that lies on West Grant Avenue was purchased from the Capilupi family shortly thereafter.

Mayor Tarantolo also announced that there will also be a ribbon-cutting to unveil some of the new features of the park, including a walking trail, playground and metal gazebo. Construction of these features began in July after the council spent several months deciding what they would be and how much money should be spent on them.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the park on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m., with a rain date of Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.
