Long Branch Curfew Now Lifted But City Urges Caution

City urges residents to stay off roads while crews clear roadways

Although the Long Branch officials have listed the city-wide curfew, officials are still urging residents to use caution if they have to drive.

"Roads are covered with debris, trees and deep water," a Code Red alert message announced at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. "Many power lines are down and some streets are impassible."

The curfew was enacted at 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

According to JCP&L, over 2,000 Long Branch residents are without power. There are over 110,000 people without power in Monmouth County.

There were reports of an Ocean Avenue apartment's roof collapsing as well as a fire on South Lincoln Avenue. Police reported no injuries in either incident.

High winds and flooding are expected to continue until later this afternoon, and Long Branch Department of Public Works crews are reportedly clearing roadways.
