County OK's Deed For Long Branch Beach Replenishment

Deed will allow Army Corps of Engineers to replenish sand at Seven Presidents beach.

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders have passed a resolution granting a beach easement deed so the Army Corps of Engineers can begin a sand replenishment project at the city's beaches.

The county owns and operates the beach at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park and needed to sign the easement over to the state for work to begin.

Long Branch and several private beach owners signed over easements last month to help get the project moving.

Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (D-6) said the bid for Long Branch's beach replenishment should be awarded this month. The work is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2014, Pallone has said.

The work will be part of the largest beach nourishment project ever undertaken by the Army Corps of Engineers and world's biggest beach-fill project, in terms of sand volume.
