The woman, later identified as Robin Ann Brooks, 45, of Long Branch, was questioned, and then arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and criminal trespass, according to Roebuck.

Brooks was released on a summons and checked into crisis at Monmouth Medical Center.

"At no time were any students in danger during this event, and because of the alert and quick response by both the school employees and the Police Department, this crisis was handled quickly and professionally," Roebuck said. "The Long Branch Board of Education and the City of Long Branch Department of Public Safety will continue to work and train together to ensure the safety of the students in our district."
