A woman charged by police with trying to swipe someone else's purse at a store in the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets is also considered a fugitive from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, court documents say.
On Thursday, Tinton Falls Police received a report of the theft of a leather purse containing a passport, wallet with credit cards and an Apple iPad at the Burberry's luxury goods store in the shopping complex off Garden State Parkway Exit 100A. The purse was situated on a display shelf.
Police say Yan Lin, 34, of Hickory Hill Rd. in Jackson put the victim's purse inside her own and walked out of the store.
She is being held on $5,000 bail at the county jail and also being held by state ICE officials. She is expected to make a first appearance before a judge on Tuesday.
