West Long Branch Police Thwart Attempted Burglary

Suspect caught trying to burglarize Bampton Place home

The West Long Branch police arrested and charged a man who attempted to burglarize a Bampton Place home earlier this month.

On March 7, at 9:48 a.m., the West Long Branch Police received a call of a suspicious person around the area of a Bampton Place home, according to the West Long Branch Police Detective Bill Lynch.

"Upon arrival, Sgt. Paul Habermann encountered a subject matching the description," Detective Lynch said.

Further investigation by Sgt. Haberman, Ptl. Jason Buono and Detective Lynch led to the arrest of John L. Poole, 39, of Branchport Ave., Long Branch. Poole was charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

Poole was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, in default of $20,000 bail, according to Detective Lynch.
