West Long Branch Police Searching For Theft Suspect

Police release sketch of theft suspect

The West Long Branch Police have released a sketch of a theft suspect who reportedly took several pieces of jewelry from the home of a borough resident.

In January, the resident reportedly allowed the suspect to use his home to wait for a ride according to West Long Branch Police Det. Bill Lynch.

"The victim met the suspect at a meeting in Long Branch where he was asked
for a ride," Det. Lynch said. "The victim could not take him to his destination, but offered to allow him to stay at his home to keep warm."

"The victim left to let his dog out and when he returned the suspect left abruptly," Det. Lynch continued.

Det. Lynch said the victim discovered that jewelry was missing a few days later and reported the incident to the police.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect and are asking anyone who can assist in identifying the suspect to please contact the West Long Branch Police Detective Bureau at 732-229-5000.
