West Long Branch Police Investigating Laundromat Armed Robbery

Police say Lucky's Laundry was robbed on Saturday, Dec. 14.

A West Long Branch laundromat was robbed at gunpoint this weekend and police are still searching for the suspect.

The robbery occurred at Lucky's Laundry in the Paddock Plaza at the intersection of Route 36 and Monmouth Road around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

West Long Branch Police Chief Lawrence Mihlon said the suspect was described as a tall, muscular build, clean shaven black male, approximately 35 years of age. The man was wearing a black jacket and shirt over patterned pants, and a black ski mask.  

Mihlon said the suspect threatened the laundromat employee with a silver handgun and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"A silver mini-van was observed in the area and may have been involved in the incident," Mihlon said in a release.

West Long Branch Police Sgt. James Gomez, Patrolman Nicholas Ferrugiaro, Patrolman Ryan Buck and Special Officer Amanda Farrell responded to the call and helped search for the suspect.

The armed robber is currently under investigation by Detectives Michael Paolantonio and Jayson Moore and anyone with information is asked to call the West Long Branch Police Detective Bureau at 732-229-5000.
