West Long Branch Police: Car Thefts on Rise

Police warn residents to lock their car doors

 

The West Long Branch Police are warning residents of a recent increase in car thefts over the last few weeks in nearby communities.

The Deal Police Department issued a Code Red alert on Monday telling residents that a number of vehicles in Deal, Interlaken and Loch Arbour have been stolen.

The vehicles were stolen from residents' driveways and were left unlocked with the keys inside in all cases, according to the Deal Police Department. Most incidents occurred in the early morning or overnight hours.

Police are urging all residents to lock their car doors and to not leave their keys in their cars, even if they are parking in their driveways.

The West Long Branch Police are asking residents to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity as soon as witness it.
