The fire department has been in need of a new pumper truck for many years, and it was finally able to purchase it with the help of Monmouth University. The university will donate $25,000 every year, for the next 10 years to help the department pay for the truck. The fire company's previous pumper truck is over 30 years old.

Both of the borough's fire companies will use the new truck, but it will be housed at West Long Branch Fire Company No. 2.
