Two Softball Games, Two Wins for Eatontown FD over Little Silver

The Eatontown Fire Department softball team beat Little Silver twice in a double header Sunday morning, continuing its undefeated season.

The Eatontown Fire Department's softball team beat the Little Silver Fire Department's team twice in a double header Sunday morning, 19-6 and 11-4. The wins extend Eatontown's flawless record this season to 10-0, a promising outlook for their league, which is the longest-running fire department softball league in New Jersey as it enters its 55th season.

Strong batting and swift base running helped the Eatontown firefighters secure huge leads over their Little Silver rivals in both games. The MVP of the first game was Greg Welsh, who got hits on every one of his four at-bats, including two home runs. In the second game, Joe Iannuzzelli was three for four at the plate, and hit one home run.

The Eatontown team, which won championships in 2007 and 2009, faces off against last year's championship winner, Monmouth Beach, next Sunday at 10 a.m., and against Fair Haven the following Sunday at the same time.
